Chefchaouen is a city with a very particular character, in addition to being built on the side of a mountain. But if it fascinates travelers so much, it is because it gives off an impression of the unreal. The facades of its houses are tinted with blue and white, the whole city seems bathed in azure. We walk there like in a dream.
However, Chefchaouen is much more than just an adornment. The city is full of attractions. Its heritage is rich. There is the Medina, small but authentic: taking its streets means mingling with the local population, smelling the daily aromas, that of freshly baked bread, that of expertly prepared tagines. There is also the Kasbah which stands in the middle of the old quarter: its lush gardens are a haven of freshness in the very heart of the city. Its museum is also worth a detour: there is a collection of old weapons, some photos of the city, and textiles too.
Taking advantage of its location, Chefchaouen is also a paradise for walkers. The surrounding mountains are crisscrossed with paths which offer very pleasant hiking prospects. To explore them is to discover another Morocco, more remote, that of the Rif chain.
